Statement

The program is located at Rye Elementary School in the beautiful community of Rye, New Hampshire. Preschool-aged students who live in Rye will have an opportunity to attend on a first-come, first-served basis. A waitlist has been started. Please contact Diane Peterson if you haven’t already done so.

The PreK Program offers a sensory and language-based experience for our youngest learners with a focus on the development of early literacy skills through play-based approaches and developmentally appropriate activities. Students also participate in unified arts classes such as music, library, art, and STEAM. This program is for students who will be entering kindergarten the following school year.

Students must be four before September 30th to join this program.

PreK Teacher - Katelyn Caswell

Hello! My name is Katelyn Caswell. I graduated from The University of New Hampshire with a dual major in Child Development and Educational Studies. I also completed the Early Childhood Education (Birth-Third Grade) teacher preparation program and earned my M. Ed. (Elementary Education K-6) from UNH. I taught kindergarten at Rye Elementary School for two years and just completed my second year teaching PreK.

Before coming to RES, I interned in preschool, kindergarten, and second-grade classrooms. One of my favorite parts about early childhood education is that I get to create enjoyable, fun, and transformative experiences for young children filled with a lot of growth and exciting memories. My hope for each child is for them to know that they are capable of whatever they set their mind to, safe to take risks and try new things, loved, and accepted for who they are, and welcomed with open arms each and every day.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy listening to music, spending quality time with my friends and family, and documenting life through pictures and journaling. I’m also always up for a trip to the beach, especially to watch the sunrise! I have been on ten service trips to rebuild homes destroyed by natural disasters throughout the country, so I hope to get back to traveling someday soon.
