Private School Application Process
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The following is important information regarding “Applying to Private Schools”. If your son or daughter is interested in applying to a private high school please visit the private schools website for information regarding their open house dates, application process, application deadlines and whether or not the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is required by their school. Rye Junior High has seen many students accepted at the following private schools: Berwick Academy, Governor’s Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, St. Johns School, and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Contact information for these schools, as well as this year’s application process has been included below. If your child is applying to a school not listed, please contact the private school for their application requirements. Information on the SSAT, including deadline, test location sites, and test preparation suggestions can be located on their website: http://www.ssat.org/ssat/info/home.html . If you do not have access to the internet, please contact Alison Dunn in Guidance for registration paperwork.
Teachers at Rye Junior High receive over thirty requests each year for student recommendations to private high schools. In order to accommodate private school deadlines and provide an appropriate recommendation for each student, RJH has a December 2, 2011 deadline for accepting recommendation requests from teachers/administration/guidance. Students are required to complete the “Student Questionnaire” by December 2, 2011 and return this form to Ms. Dunn in Guidance before a recommendation is written by a teacher. Students who do not abide by this deadline are at risk for not receiving the recommendations they need to complete their private school application process.
Sincerely,
Alison Dunn Chris Pollet
