Part 1: Concept Map
1) Download the incomplete rock cycle concept map which has been shared with you in your Google Apps account and save a copy to your Whipperwill folder under Science (when the download is complete select CLOSE and not OPEN). Make sure to rename the file properly with an assignment name of "FullRockCycle". Open your Whipperwill Science Folder, right click on the "FullRockCycle" C-map, select copy, and paste it into the "My Cmaps" folder found in "My Documents". Then start the C-Maps program from the shortcut we made on the desktop. Two C-Map windows will open up, the one labeled "CMap Tools" will have the "FullRockCycle" assignment. Double click on it and a new window will open up with the incomplete rock cycle concept map that you can use to complete step two below.
2) Using the main concept map downloaded from above you will be making three concept maps one for each rock type (Sedimentary, Metamorphic, & Igneous). Use ONLY the following websites to complete your three concept maps including as much information as possible. Save your work to your science folder with proper titles and the following assignment names of "Sedimentary", "Metamorphic", & "Igneous". You must include all the following terms in at least one of your concept maps as a "Bubble" and the lines must be labeled with action terms describing what has occurred between the "Bubbles":
Basalt, Break down, Cementing, Chemical reactions, Clay, Consolidation, Compacting, Crust, Crystallization, Deposition, Dissolve, Equal pressure, Erosion, Exposure, Fossils, Granite, High temperature, Ice, Lava, Limestone, Lithification, , Magma, Mantle, Marble, Melting, Metamorphism, Rain, Sand, Schist,, Sediments, Shale, Snow, Transportation, Uplift, Unequal pressure, Volcano, Weathering, Wind

Make sure to keep track of which websites you use as you will have to make a seperate Work Cited page for your entire project on Google Apps with an assignment name of "RockCycleWC". In addition to citing all of the above websites that you use you must ALSO use and cite at least one database and one printed resource (book or encyclopedia).
3) When you are finished with your three concept maps call over a teacher to check for completeness.
