Cool Weather - Finally!

Forward

Ms. Ellwood will be calling for a "live chat" at 11am tomorrow!

We have finally received a little bit of chilly weather. It seems a bit odd to have been hoping for the weather to cool off while in Antarctica! We needed a cool down to refreeze at least part of the moat. We now have a safe (albeit very small!) route to the dive hole. Our intention is to finish all the diving tomorrow. We are still waiting to hear if we are being picked up on the 12th or the 13th. Since we don't know for sure, we must be ready to leave by the 12th. We have started packing up the supplies and equipment that we are sure we no longer need. Ian dove this morning to collect the final core and mat samples from the shallow water. Hal is finishing up his measurements in the mid-depth water area this evening, so tomorrow, we retrieve Hal and grab a few last samples and set down Peter's sediment traps! That should wrap up the diving. It's hard to believe our time is coming to an end!

(We are having internet troubles this evening at camp, so I am only sending two quick pictures - and a brief update!)

This is a Scott Base helicopter. I can tell because of the color pattern. The "Kiwi's" are red and white, the US helicopters are red and navy blue.
Just a nice view up the valley!
